Extending the scope of the Erasmus partnership

During the last week of August I had the pleasure to visit University of Dzemal Bijedic in Mostar (UNMO). I was hosted by the International Relations Office as a counterpart of the office I work for at the Rzeszów University of Technology (RUT), Poland - future partner of UNMO in the Erasmus ICM project. Ms Mirsada Behram welcomed me warmly in the office on Monday morning. Before discussing the details of the Erasmus issues I was given a tour around the Rectorate building during which Ms Behram briefly presented the history of the university, the figure of Džemal Bijedić and showed me around the gallery of destructions done during war times recalling at the same time own memories of that harsh times.

One-to-one meetings throughout the following days created the possibility to discuss in detail the mobility flows, rules of the recruitment phases and more importantly exchange of good practices not only in the scope of the future Erasmus project but also in terms of international cooperation as such. Due to the fact of RUT having mostly engineering courses it was agreed that the precedence of the exchanges will be given to mechanical engineering and civil engineering to start with.

During the visit I was given a campus tour to get the idea how the university operates and functions. I met the Dean Faculty of Information Technologies dr. sc. Nina Bijedić and had a nice informal talk about international issues and her faculty scientific scope.

Worth noting here is the fact of UNMO from 2024 is a part of the European University Alliance project SUNRISE. Do accept my sincere congratulations and I wish the whole engaged team to fully exploit its potential.

I truly appreciate the experience of the university acting so actively in the EU projects and working really hard to make its position the international arena. The key role in those deeds is played by Ms Behram grasping all the possible chances to further the idea of UNMO’s strategy to be an institution open to cooperation and internationalization.

Thank you for hospitality, the time devoted and expertise that was willingly shared while my visit.
